2023-2024 Executive Team

The Iowa Association of Black Journalists has elected its leadership team for the 2023-24 term.

President: Ty Rushing. This is Rushing’s second consecutive term as IABJ president. He previously served as the chapter’s vice president. Rushing is one of IABJ’s five co-founders.
Vice President: Nixson Benitez. He previously served as the organization’s secretary for two terms. Benitez is one of IABJ’s five co-founders.
Treasurer: Taj Simmons. Simmons will serve in his second consecutive term as treasurer.
Parliamentarian: Dwana Bradley. She will serve her third consecutive term as parliamentarian. Bradley is one of IABJ’s five co-founders.
Secretary: Dana James. This will be James’ first term as secretary; she previously served as IABJ’s vice president.

Additionally, IABJ is proud to announce the launch of a new website, www.iabjofficial.org, and a fresh logo for the chapter’s new era.

IABJ remains committed to enriching the lives of journalists of color in Iowa, and the 2023-24 executive team is prepared to fulfill that mission.
